EigenLayer AVS Dinner: On Programmable Trust

Bonifacio Global City, Manila — March 29, 2025

In an intimate, builder-focused gathering hosted by Ethereum Philippines, the EigenLayer AVS Dinner introduced key Web3 developers and researchers in the Philippines to the mechanics of restaking, Actively Validated Services (AVS), and capital efficiency strategies on Ethereum.

Far from a networking mixer, the evening was structured around direct knowledge transfer—beginning with a comprehensive technical talk on EigenLayer, followed by a workshop on liquidity pooling mechanics led by crypto educator Luis Buenaventura II.

A Special Message from Nader Dabit

The event opened with a recorded message from Nader Dabit, Director of DevRel at EigenLayer, expressing his excitement for the Philippines’ growing Ethereum community and its potential role in the global AVS landscape.

Part 1 — What is EigenLayer and Why It Matters

Presented by Tin Erispe, Tech Lead of Ethereum Philippines, the opening segment walked participants through:

  • The origins and motivation behind Ethereum restaking

  • How AVSs plug into EigenLayer to borrow economic security from Ethereum without creating new validator sets

  • Key use cases: oracle networks, bridges, decentralized coprocessors, and more

  • Safety considerations: slashing, operator registry, and programmable trust

This segment provided attendees—ranging from smart contract devs to infra engineers—with a clear understanding of how EigenLayer is building the foundation for Ethereum’s modular future.

“Eigenlayer restaking expands Ethereum’s trust network and security beyond fully on-chain applications.”

Part 2 — Liquidity Pooling Mechanics

Led by Luis Buenaventura II, this segment focused on the capital layer—specifically how liquidity behaves in ecosystems where validators and services interact through restaked guarantees.

A Signal for What’s Next

The EigenLayer AVS Dinner marked a significant moment for the Philippine Ethereum ecosystem—it was the first event in the country to unpack the mechanics of restaking and explore the potential of programmable trust through Actively Validated Services. Far from surface-level hype, the evening was defined by clear, grounded discussion—equipping builders and enthusiasts with the conceptual tools to begin imagining what’s possible.

The hope is clear: that this session becomes a spark—opening the door for more Filipinos to understand, engage with, and eventually build within the growing EigenLayer ecosystem. As Ethereum evolves, so too must its communities—and events like this ensure that the Philippines is not left behind.
